Registration & Pricing

Surrender is a weekend long, hotel based convention. Your registration fees include all our classes, workshops, special events, parties and access to the playspaces. Registration does NOT include accommodations or food. The convention will open Friday afternoon and run through Monday morning. You do NOT have to book a room at the hotel to attend the event. Many people commute each day and there is onsite parking for $15/day (no in/out) for day trippers and a similar $15/day for hotel guests with full in/out privileges.  The Hotel is a proven scene friendly hotel located in San Jose near the airport.

Covid Protocol

We take Covid very seriously. Below is our current Covid protocol. As we all know, best practices regarding Covid shift rapidly and we will do our best to implement the best practices of the moment when the event takes place.

All attendees must:

    • Test NEGATIVE at Registration upon arrival (Rapid Antigen Self Test aka Home Kit)
    • Perform a daily self test each subsequent day of the conference
    • Bring enough Self Test Kits to cover each day in attendance.
    • Masks Mandatory at Registration (Until your negative test results are complete)

NOTE: Test Kits will NOT be provided. You must bring enough for every day you are at the event.

Our Private Space

Surrender will be taking all 50,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space the hotel has to offer so there will be plenty of room for our workshops, special event and parties. We are moving the workshops to the largest ballrooms, spreading out the chairs, and not allowing rooms to become overcrowded. We have lots of outdoor spaces available around the hotel to socialize. We even moved the convention up by several weeks in hopes of warmer weather … who knows … bring your swimsuit they have a great pool and Jacuzzi !

Host Hotel Rooms – SOLD OUT

Having a room in the host hotel is a must have for those quick costume changes, mid-day naps, or private get-aways with a special friend.  Plus you can stay up each night till the bitter end and just run downstairs in your bunny slippers to classes the next morning … yeah we’re not kidding. Unfortunately the host hotel is now SOLD OUT.

Overflow Hotel Rooms

There are several very nearby hotels priced at approx $160/$198 night with  availability and a very short uber trip away. We were able to negotiate a room block of 30 rooms that include breakfast for 2 and discounted parking ($10/night) but they only had King rooms available.   We identified another very nice nearby hotel that does have Double Queen room availability but is not accepting room blocks.  If you need a queen room you should book directly or through a 3rd party app at this or another nearby hotel. Host and overflow hotel information is given to you at the end of the registration process. [updated Tuesday 9/24/24]

Day Passes


Day Passes are confusing, problematic and basically a giant pain in the ass for everyone. However, we have been inundated with requests by many of you who can only make it for a portion of the event and we really want everyone to have an opportunity to experience at least a little of Dark Odyssey. So, we just can’t say no. Day passes are now available but you need to buy your tickets online as we do not allow in person registration. If you are planning on coming to 2 or more portions of the event, we strongly suggest you simply buy a full weekend pass as its probably cheaper and certainly easier for everyone. Day pass pricing is listed below.

Notes:

  • All registration rates are per person.
  • Last day to transfer or cancel registration and receive a refund is October 1, 2024.
  • Cancellations are subject to a $50 handling fee per registrant.
  • Gift registrations become the property of the named registrant. Only the named registrant may cancel or transfer their registration.
  • There is transfer fee of either $50 or the difference between the current rate and original registration rate, whichever is greater.
  • Hotel room rates are per room per night and will be billed directly by the hotel.
  • Hotel Reservations are Guaranteed with your credit card. Cancellations must be received at least 3 days prior to check-in. There is a one night room plus tax “no show” fee.
  • There is a 2 night minimum stay at the host hotel to qualify for our group rate.
  • Covid Cancellation Policy: Event Credit (prorated) given for the unused portion of the event registration to those who submit their positive Covid Test results taken within 1 week of the start of or during the event.  Test must be performed by a professional 3rd party verifiable lab and results must be emailed to the registrar.
  • We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone and cancel their registration. If we do cancel your registration you will receive a full refund.
