Winter Fire is a weekend long, hotel based convention. Your registration fees include all our classes, workshops, special events, parties and access to the playspaces. Registration does NOT include accommodations or food. The convention will open Friday afternoon and run through Monday morning. You do NOT have to book a room at one of our hotels to attend the event. Many people commute each day and there are local parking lots and mass transit stops right by the hotel.
See pricing tables below.
We will have the entire hotel again this year. In order to meet our room night obligations to the hotel we can only accepting reservations for all 3 nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Our overflow hotels, located within a block of the host hotel will allow partial weekend reservations. Remember, the playspaces will be open very late on Sunday night/Monday morning so stay and make it a long weekend. In order to ensure everyone’s privacy all hotel accommodations must be placed through the private hotel link you will be given at the end of the registration process. For detailed information please visit our Hotel page. After you complete your event registration you will receive a link to book your accommodations directly with the hotel. The hotel will be charging a 1st Night Non-Refundable Deposit. While this is a new process for Winter Fire, it is standard practice for large conventions. The Host Hotel has a 3 night minimum for room reservations, this is the only way we can create a “hotel takeover”. For those whom absolutely cannot take 3 nights at the host hotel, we have established two room blocks at nearby overflow hotels with no room night minimum. Once the host hotel sells out, registered attendees who take a room at an overflow hotel will be automatically placed on the waiting list for any rooms that open up at the host hotel.
Day Passes are confusing, problematic and basically a giant pain in the ass for everyone. However, we have been inundated with requests by many of you who can only make it for a portion of the event and we really want everyone to have an opportunity to experience at least a little of Dark Odyssey. So, we just can’t say no. Day passes are now available but you need to buy your tickets online as we do not allow in person registration. If you are planning on coming to 2 or more portions of the event, we strongly suggest you simply buy a full weekend pass as its probably cheaper and certainly easier for everyone. Day pass pricing is listed below.
| Day Passes | Participating Group | Standard |

| Friday Full Day Pass (Noon-3am) | $130/day | $140/day |

You’ll have a great experience at either of them. Waiting List: By taking a room in one of the overflow hotels you will automatically be placed on the waiting list for the host hotel. Should a room in the host hotel become available, our hotel coordinator will be in touch to see if you would like to make the switch.

Dark Odyssey was created in 2003 as a wholly unique experience, built to bring together sexuality, spirituality, education, and play in a fun, supportive, non-judgmental environment where fantasy becomes reality. Since that time, Dark Odyssey has become the home of top-notch play spaces, creative amenities, and inspiring events where people can have truly immersive experiences.
As a community, Dark Odyssey is a melting pot of diverse identities and interests that welcomes people of all genders, sexual orientations, and erotic persuasions. We are sex-positive with interests as diverse as BDSM, swinging, Tantra, body modification, Master/slave relationships, erotic role-playing, sacred sexuality, polyamory, Paganism, cross-dressing, and sexual adventure. We appreciate that everyone has their own fetishes, kinks, and turn-ons, and we strive to make room for them all in an open, tolerant and inclusive atmosphere.
Whether diving into our four major events (Winter Fire, Fusion, Summer Camp, and Surrender) or exploring Happy Hour, you can immerse yourself in an atmosphere of sexual energy and experimentation that will add excitement and passion to your world and create deeper levels of connection between you and your partners. Our mission is to build a magical place where you can live out your wildest fantasies and dreams, and find a home away from home as adventurers of sex, kink, connection and spirit.
Greg has been immersed in the kink world for way more than a decade, from crafting to educating to planning. He began his kinkalicious journey as an infant, when he decided to explore breath play, causing the doctor to provide some extra swats for good measure. Years later he founded the Toy Bag where he perfected the art of building exotic wood and leather paddles to delight and torment himself and others. Greg branched out into the education realm, by serving on the Board of Black Rose for six years (with three as Chairman). Afterwards he founded Dark Odyssey as a way to focus on one of his true loves, “throwing the big party.” Even with 80 major conventions under his belt (and that’s not all that is under his belt!), he still enjoys spreading the kinky gospel and creating new play opportunities for the BDSM community across the country. If you see him, say Hi. He loves to meet kinksters, new and old, and as always, looks forward to making this the best event yet.
Karri has been involved with Dark Odyssey since the first event in 2003 but has dabbled in kink for longer. After all, who didn’t love playing kidnapping and bondage games when they were younger? Karri established her scene presence by helping start the CATS sig for Black Rose and after working on their annual convention (and watching Greg’s excitement), was hooked on being a part of the “big event”! She branched out to gain more experience in all things kink and was very active in the TNG group and IMsL. She now lives in the Netherlands with her partner, Nicki, and cats Pumpkin & Shadow. Karri can be found at all 4 Dark Odyssey events, accompanied by her radio and her special BFFs. Never one to let her skills go to waste, Karri can be found tormenting those lucky enough to be chosen by taking out her aggression on them in the most torturously delightful ways.
Without the tireless work of our volunteer staff, Winter Fire would just be a good idea wishing it could happen! We’d like to thank the amazing group of people who come together each year to create this outstanding event. These are not just our friends, they’re a part of our family. As staff members get confirmed we will be listing them here.

This year’s Winter Fire will take place at a great hotel in Baltimore, Maryland near the Inner Harbor. Our new host hotel is larger than last year’s and has over 400 rooms but we know it will still sell out quickly. As a hotel takeover, the entire hotel will be ours… all the ballrooms, all the meeting rooms, all the guest rooms, all the great couches in the lobby, everyone you ride the elevator with… they will all be one of us!
But all this fun comes with an obligation. We have to fill ALL the hotel rooms on ALL the nights, so we can only accept reservations for Fri, Sat AND Sunday night at the host hotel.
We have to fill all the guest rooms on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday night. There will be a full day of programming on Sunday and the playspace and parties will run until the wee hours of Sunday night/Monday morning. The hotel has graciously agreed to a fantastic 3 night rate of only $159/night. But again, you have to book all three nights. Our hotel ALWAYS sells out incredibly fast each year so do not wait to register and get a room. NON-REFUNDABLE ROOM DEPOSIT – each room reservation must be guaranteed with a credit card. Shortly after the time of reservation your card will be billed for your 1st nights room and tax. You will pay for the balance of your stay when you check out of the hotel. Should you cancel your hotel reservation this room deposit is NON-Refundable. Please check your availability carefully before booking a room.
We will have 2 overflow hotels both within a block of the host hotel. Unlike previous events, none of the overflow hotels will have an additional playspace. Both hotels do not have a minimum night stay requirement. So if you cannot attend the entire convention please simply book a room here. Your room is guaranteed with your credit card and there is a first night deposit, but that deposit IS refundable as long as you cancel at least 48 hours in advance of check in. Please check the hotel policies for more details when you book.
After the host hotel sells out, by signing up for a room in the Overflow Hotel you are automatically put on the waiting list for the Host Hotel. Should we get room cancellations our Hotel Room coordinator will contact those registered for rooms at the overflow hotel and offer them a room at the Host Hotel.
We have booked the entire hotel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. To book a room in the host hotel, you must book for all three nights. You will be charged a deposit of 1 night’s room and tax by the hotel shortly after reserving your room. This deposit becomes NON-REFUNDABLE after January 13, 2026. The balance will be charged at the end of your stay, like any regular hotel stay. Waiting List – people who register and sign up for a room at one of the overflow hotels are automatically placed on the waiting list in the order in which they register.

We are truly a pansexual community; heterosexual, bisexual, gay, lesbian, queer. We span the width of the gender spectrum; cisgender, transgender, non binary, gender nonconforming. Many of us are already deeply involved in one or more aspects of alternative sexuality and want to explore other areas or share our knowledge with those on the journey.
Most of our attendees have an interest in one or more or the following: BDSM/leathersex, polyamory, open relationships and swinging, Eastern Philosophies, Earth-based spirituality, and Tantra

Dark Odyssey is NOT a membership organization. All our attention goes into holding several large events every year where we emphasize creating a safe, sexy, fun and exciting space that is as diverse as the people in the alternate sexuality community. Each year we hold 4 large events with up to 40 national and local presenters teaching classes and participating in special events on BDSM, swinging, Tantra, body modification, Master/slave relationships, erotic role-playing, sacred sexuality, polyamory, Paganism, gender bending, and sexual adventure. We appreciate that everyone has their own fetishes, kinks, and turn-ons, and we strive to make room for them all in an open, tolerant and inclusive atmosphere.
When we formed Dark Odyssey in 2003, we created a program called “Participating Groups” where we invited alternate lifestyle groups to join in the fun. We don’t require that groups actually ‘participate’ at the event, although we love it when they do. The core of the program is simple:
Since we have no members, per se, this is not a “reciprocal group” arrangement and no one will be asking for discounts to your meetings or events in our name. Also, this being the internet age, we have developed a loose definition of what constitutes a group. Of course we accept membership organizations, but we also take Munches, Happy Hours, Fetish groups, etc. Our litmus test looks at if your group is active, larger than your immediate family, regularly gathers together (preferably in real time), and exists to talk about or participate in alternative sexual lifestyles. We want people to get out from behind their computers and to join a local group like yours where they can participate all year long! Dark Odyssey exists to cross pollinate ideas and people between the great diversity of groups that exist.

We hope this gives you a good idea of what the program is all about. However if you have any questions please email greg@darkodyssey.com or feel free pick up the phone and call Greg at 510-206-0875. We would be happy to talk to you about how we can work together to make the scene a fun, exciting and safe place for everyone.

A: Our hotel is in Baltimore, Maryland. We are a few blocks from the waterfront . This will be our second time with this hotel as they were the last event we held right before the pandemic. The hotel was built in the 20’s and has been lovingly restored. It has a wonderful Great Gatsby feel to it. We’ve had a blast last time and the hotel loved having us. It’s an amazing space for an event.
A: Absolutely … The entire host hotel is ours. We will have all the guest rooms and all the ballrooms. No church groups, no teen volleyballers, the whole place will be ours!
A: Yes, there are two overflow hotels both within a block of the host hotel. You may book your overflow hotel room after registering just like the host hotel. When the host hotel sells out, people registered for rooms at the overflow hotels will automatically be on the waiting list for a host hotel room.
A: Yes, Overflow hotel 2 will have the overflow playspace. We will have a daytime playspace available at the host hotel.
A: Baltimore Washington International (BWI) is the closest airport to Baltimore and your airport of choice. There is mass transit available from the airport directly to the hotel and we will have more information available after you register. Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Philadelphia International Airport (PIA) are possible but are more than an hour away.
A: The main drawback of doing the convention in a big city the cost of parking. The host hotel has valet parking for $xx/day plus taxes. They do not have a self park option. There are several parking garages in the area and we will post that information as the event draws near.
A: Sadly, we were actually asked this question.
Well my politically incorrect “friend” the answer is…there may be… but probably not for you. Winter Fire is primarily an educational and social event. We attract an amazing cross section of people and are very proud of our diversity and the comfortable environment we create for those who are often made to feel “out of place” elsewhere. We are doctors and lawyers, artists and activists, husbands and wives, you and me. We are a truly a pansexual community; heterosexual, bisexual, gay, lesbian, transgender and more.
Many of us are already deeply involved in one or more aspects of alternative sexuality and want to explore other areas or share our knowledge with those on the journey. Most of our attendees have an interest in one or more or the following: BDSM/leather, sex, polyamory, open relationships and swinging, Eastern Philosophies, Earth-based spirituality, and Tantra.
A: Absolutely, Winter Fire was designed as an entry point to the alternative lifestyle community. It’s purpose is to give you a taste of the many different flavors of human sexuality. Where other events simply focus on a singular aspect like BDSM or the Lifestyle, we are the sampler version… a taste of sexuality… if we may. Many of our classes are introductory level so you can start at the beginning and walk away armed with new skills and ideas. We ask everyone to attend a short Winter Fire 101 class where we talk about etiquette and how to make the most of your weekend. If you are curious about alternate sexuality, have an open mind, and a good attitude this is the right place for you. Singles of any gender are welcome… assholes and wankers are not and we reserve the right to ask anyone who makes other attendees uncomfortable to leave.
A: You must be street legal when walking the hallways, in the lobby, elevators, restaurant and lobby bar area, etc of the hotel. Most people dress casually during the day for workshops. At night we expect to see you in your fetish finest. There will NOT be any bizarre dress code restrictions. Cross dressing is perfectly acceptable. T-shirts with cute sayings are great. Men in kilts turn us on. Outlandish costumes will be applauded. But you MUST be street legal at all times in the public areas of the hotel.
A: A full weekend pass to the event varies in price depending on when you register. Please refer to the pricing page.
A: You do not have to book a hotel room to attend Winter Fire. You absolutely can commute from home, stay with a friend, or even get a room in another hotel. We think staying in the hotel is your best choice especially with the amazing room rate special the host hotel has offered us of $159/night. Also remember, we only get the whole hotel by agreeing to fill the whole hotel. So please, take a room for all three nights and have a weekend you’ll remember forever.
When you complete registration you will receive a link to book your room directly with the host or overflow hotels.
A: There are a few suites available at the host hotel. If you are interested in a host hotel suite we recommend you book a regular room first and then write to registrar@darkodyssey.com for more information on pricing and availability. There are not many and they will be gone quickly. The overflow hotel may have some suites available but they are not part of our block. You will have to book those rooms through the standard hotel website outside of our booking link. Hotel information will be give to you at the end of registration. If you are only attending the conference if you can book a suite, this isnt the conference for you.
A: Its true, its true! We have the space, the hotel is OK with it, so lets party late every night. We will be closing the space a little earlier on Sunday night so we can start tearing it all down, but this is Dark Odyssey and we expect you to play late and play hard!
A: About two weeks before the conference we will email you directions to the host hotel along with more information about all our special events and workshops that you may participate in. Please make sure we have your current email address so you get all event notices timely. We do NOT send out a snail mail confirmation package. You can update your email address and other personal information in the Attendees Only Area by clicking on your “Virtual Badge”.
A: Each year we make the decision about offering day passes about three weeks before the event. If it looks like there is enough room, we will open up day passes. But we feel it’s important to not overcrowd the event. When deciding to wait for day passes, please consider that a typical Saturday day pass is nearly the same price as a full registration at the early rates.
A: We are sorry, but to ensure everyone’s privacy we ask that you leave your camera at home. Also, now that everyone seems to have a cell phone with a camera, we can’t allow you to use your cell phone in the play spaces, workshop rooms or classrooms and would really appreciate if you must use your cell phone that you go into the lobby or better still outside the hotel away from other attendees.
Twisted View, and several other official staff photographers will be on hand to capture those special moments. If you are willing to have your picture taken we will ask you to sign a model release during registration and you will then be identifiable to our staff photographers by the color wrist band you are given.
A: Then send us an email to info@darkodyssey.com and we will do our best to get you an answer as soon as possible. If you have a burning question that can’t wait for email… or you type really poorly… call Greg at 510-206-0875.

One of the great things about attending a convention is all the shopping! Take a break from workshops and wander by vendor row. You are bound to find some amazing toys to add to your collection or a fabulous outfit.
Vendors are selected to ensure a diversity of goods and services. If your company is interested in applying to vend at Winter Fire please send an email to vending@darkodyssey.com.

Winter Fire’s programming director, Lolita, is hard at work bringing together top notch educators rarely seen outside of their home communities, as well as internationally renowned sexuality, kink, BDSM and spirituality instructors for Winter Fire.
