Tension & Intention
Rope can produce a variety of sensations from gentle to rough and from sensual to torturous. It can wrap around the body like a comforting embrace. It can tighten and constrict into immobilizing restraints. It can gently glide onto the skin like a light massage. It can tickle or tingle. It can bite and scratch into the skin like talons. Rope can knock you off balance, and it can make you feel centered. Rope can make you feel grounded, and it can bring you to the ground. In this workshop, Parker RopeBoi & Juniper Quinn will share some of our favorite techniques for wielding rope with intention and control, and using rope to communicate many different sensations and emotions. People experience different rope sensations physically as well as mentally and emotionally, informed by our unique personal histories. People have different preferences, sensitivities, limits, expectations, and associations regarding rope in its many variations, and it's helpful to reflect on these things for oneself and to communicate about it with rope partners. No prior rope experience needed. All experience levels welcome! You can attend this workshop solo or with a partner. Participation in any parts of the workshop is entirely optional and should be done only with full, ongoing consent. Some hands-on parts of the workshop are most effective with a partner. If you attend solo, you are welcome to try to partner up with another solo participant in the workshop. You also can just observe instead of doing the hands-on activities, if you prefer.
