Breaking Skin: a Sharps Play Overview

This class is intended as an overall introduction to those curious about or new to sharps play, which includes any play where the intention is to break the skin (a little or a lot). I discuss the various sharps that can be used in play (including techniques on how to use them), including needles, porcupine quills, hooks, sutures, skin staples, and scalpels/knives. There will be significant discussion of safety considerations and best practice tips to help mitigate risk and determine one’s individual sharps play risk profile.
