Lief Bound & icky's Workshops

In-Tension and Flow

Whether you've just started tying or you've been tying for years - there's no better time to work on your "in-tension" and flow! Patterns and suspension are only one part of what rope can be; if you want to improve your floor rope skills, this class is for you! In this class we will learn techniques for rope handling, body manipulation, and tying with intention to convey feeling through rope. You'll leave this class with exercises that you and your partner can utilize to co-create your own unique floor rope flow practice.

Kind of Class: Floor tying, hands on, and demo
Skill Level: beginner
Prerequisites: non-collapsing single column ties and general rope safety knowledge.
Materials needed:
Rope - 4 to 8 hanks of jute or hemp prefered, synthetic works fine.
Cutting Tool - Make sure you bring a cutting tool for safety. If you do not have a cutting tool, you will not be able to participate in the exercises.

Lief’s Hug Harness: A Hands in Front Harness

“Hug Harness 2.0” with Lief Bound & Icky - Do you need an alternative to a box tie that may be more sustainable? Lief & Icky have developed a load bearing, suspendable arms in front chest harness that is useful for those who want the structure of a box tie but have chronic shoulder or wrist issues with arms behind positioning. This harness can be loaded from the front, back, or side and will be taught with adaptations to fit multiple body types. In this class we will provide step by step instruction on how to tie this harness as well as review improvements made to the harness since it was first taught in 2020. Then we will have the option to test it out in the air and receive hands-on feedback. This harness is perfect for someone who wants to expand their repertoire or needs an alternative to a more traditional harness. At the end of this class you will have a new skill in your pocket to take with you on your rope journey!
Length: 90 minute
Level: Intermediate, Floor rope
Maximum class size: 30
Prerequisites: non-collapsing single column ties.
Materials needed:
● Cutting Tool - Make sure you bring a cutting tool for safety. If you do not have a cutting tool, you will not be able to participate in the exercises.

Passivity in Rope

Passivity in rope bondage can be a loaded topic but one that we find to be an important part of our rope relationship. How do we let go and surrender to rope while still protecting ourselves? Is there a way that top and bottom can work together to create the necessary conditions for release? In this class we will explore the idea of passivity in our bodies and then translate it into a rope suspension.

Kind of Class: hands on
Skill Level:Advanced

If you want to suspend: You will need foundational suspension knowledge including sustainable harnesses and proficient upline management.
This is a class on trust and intimacy and is best taken by pairs that have tied together before.

Rope - 8 to 12 hanks of jute or hemp. All suspension gear needed to create a point and uplines including suspension ring, climbing straps, and carabiners.

What Do I Do With This Extra Bullshit??: An Upline Management Classup

You know your harnesses, you know how to get someone in the air, but now you have to deal with uplines. Where do I tie off? What can I do with the extra rope? Our answer is to use it as a tool to enhance your mutual experience in rope with your partner. In this class, we will show different tie offs and give some ideas of how you can use uplines to add to your suspension. We will run through drills to practice uplines and to get your brain thinking quicker and to start to train your brain to think of using rope for connection. Our goal is to create a sense of connection, elicit emotions while still maintaining clean lines for a safe rope suspension.
